Facebook says they take safety issues very seriously, especially with children and they encourage parents to teach their children about safe internet practices.

They also said to protect minors, they may put special safeguards in place (such as placing restrictions on the ability of adults to share and connect with them)

From my point of view this is a great strategy whereby parents get to educate their kids about the potential hazards of social media and give them the foundation they need to protect themselves from online criminal schemes.
